Selle Building
The historic property known as the Selle Factory at High and Broadway Streets is the latest effort to revitalize an important architectural landmark for a new generation of Akronites. This particular project seeks
to create a sense of place, to generate confidence in reinvesting in the center city, and to continue building the foundation for a new frontier of tech oriented economic development.

What will be known as the Selle Generator Works is a significant collection of historic buildings that have played an important role in Akron's legacy as a leader in invention and innovation. A partnership between the City of Akron, The University of Akron and Canal Town Builders will position the property for the future by pursuing an adaptive re-use program with
a focus on facilitating businesses whose interest is in emerging technologies.

The Selle Generator Works is positioned at the gateway to the City, encircling an existing tech oriented corporate environment including research development (AES), product development (GOJO) and business innovation (Canal Place).   The highly visible and accessible complex is only a 5 minute walk from The University of Akron Campus, City Hall and the Central Business District.   The redevelopment of this parcel is further evidence of the City's continued and concerted effort to use Akron's distinguished built-legacy as a catalyst for continued economic development.   A plan to develop 15 + acres of City owned land at downtown's south terminus, to be known as University Research Park, will include a renewed Selle Generator Works. As the revitalized historic landmarks at the North-end of downtown attracted both newly established and emerging businesses, the Selle Generator Works will do the same, and provide an important amenity to AES and GOJO, while adding value to those companies investments.
